This town has the appearance of Main Street USA, only better. The striking beauty of its location, at the base of Mount Tamalpais, complements the charming homes that have been built since the turn of the century.
With the Corte Madera Creek running through the town limits there are walkways and bike paths that follow the creek’s path. The old railroad right of way has been transformed into a fabulous bike path, suitable for all skill levels.
Some of the neighborhoods in Larkspur have a distinctive suburban feeling. Heather Gardens, for example, was built in the 40’s and was originally comprised of a collection of 2 bedroom 1 bath homes. They were set on deep lots however, and in recent years many of these homes have been remodeled and expanded selling for well over a million dollars.
There are homes that are nestled into Madrone Canyon. They are magically set amongst Redwoods and enjoy the sound of the breeze through the trees and peaceful sound of the creek.
A few homes have views of Mount Tamalpais that are hard to match. The weather in Larkspur is as near to perfect as it gets. There are some truly outstanding restaurants in Larkspur, such as the Lark Creek Inn and the Left Bank.
Special events are frequent in Larkspur including, the Mill Valley Film Festival. On July 4th the firemen have their pancake breakfast and the streets are the scene of the annual parade. Now what is more Main Street USA than that?!
