Kentfield sits at the base of Mount Tamalpais and is one of Central Marin’s most coveted addresses. Known for its great climate, it is also known for being the home of the College of Marin. COM, as it is also known, is one of California’s best community colleges.
Homes in Kentfield differ from tract housing to gated estates. The single family homes vastly outnumber the apartments in Kentfield.
For people in Kentfield the heart may very well be the schools. Bacich Elementary is one of Marin’s finest, Kent Middle School is consistently a distinguished school and of course College of Marin which is not only an educational hub, but an entertainment and sports venue. Community support of these schools is impressive.
A unique and poplar market is found at the entry to Kent Woodlands. Woodland Market has a variety of the freshest produce, fine wines and hard to find delicacies. They are a strong supporter of the Kentfield Schools.
Kent Woodlands is a neighborhood of Kentfield set apart from the rest. It is located next to Larkspur and Ross. The lots in this area tend to be large; the houses built at different times, and are not all the same. You may find an Eichler like home set next to a Colonial. Almost all however are unique and custom to some degree. Some of Kent Woodland’s homes are on the flats, while some enjoy commanding views of the Bay Area from hilltops.
